As a singer and songwriter, Dustin Silva is a rare combination of technical virtuosity and raw, emotional intensity. A gifted guitarist and the youngest to attend Musicians Institute in Los Angeles at the age of fourteen, it took decades to get his songwriting and singing up to the level of his guitar playing. His songs have been described as a sonic cross between Elliott Smith, Jeff Buckley and Radiohead. Heavy themes make up the songs. His unique perspective is informed by a chronic struggle with illness (diabetes, depression, OCD) and his mothers 20 year struggle with Multiple Sclerosis. His music is both cathartic and personal with lyrics that use evocative imagery to interrogate the nature of suffering and the journey back into health. His long anticipated, debut solo EP was fully released in Sept 2023. His first full band single, Past Warning was released in Oct, 2023 and features the beautiful harmonies of Holly Sheehy and the brilliant drumming of Elizabeth Goodfellow, touring drummer for Iron & Wine. His music is produced by his close collaborator and friend Jason Ardiles. As a sideman, Dustin has recently contributed guitar/vocals to The Soft Hills album, Viva Chi Vede which received an 8.4 from Paste Magazine. Dustin lives in Portland, OR.
